You may be confused about languages names. First of all, what is Filipino (Pilipino) and how is it different from Tagalog. (ta gol' log)
Filipino = Tagalog + Local dialect words + Borrowed Foreign Words
Filipino is the combination of Tagalog (the original dialect from which most words of Filipino are based), words from local dialects (The Philippines has a LOT of dialects like Bisaya (Visaya), Ilokano, and Kapampangan), and some borrowed foreign words adapted into this dynamic language. The three centuries of Spanish rule in the Philippines left a strong imprint on the vocabulary. Mesa (table), tenedor (fork), papel (paper), and asero (steel) are only a few of hundreds of Spanish words in Tagalog.
